Harwell family photographs
my 2nd great-grandmother,
Antonia S. Cook
Antonia's father Samuel Cook went to jail when she was a child, apparently for non payment of debts. Her maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Walker Ezell helped the family.
Antonia suffered many losses, when she was 1 her father died, she had an only younger brother who died as a child, her first husband died at the age of 37, she lost 2 children before she herself died, also a few of her grandchildren died before her. But she kept on going, lived at different times with 2 of her children after leaving her second husband a man who was a bit of a cad. She even traveled to Maryland in her later years to visit family.
Blanche Estelle Harwell
Blanche was the oldest child of Richard D. Harwell and Antonia S. Cook.
She married William Henry Stewart and they had 3 children. Sadly 2 of her children died before she died.
At Druid Hill park in Baltimore, Maryland. Antonia at right with one of her nieces.
Blanche here with her 2 older children, Herbert Alvin in front, and baby Charles Norris Stewart in 1890.
